APS Selects Pivotal’s Axis for ENERGY STAR® New Homes Program Data Management

Arizona Public Service (APS), Arizona’s largest electric utility company serving over one million customers in 11 of the state’s 15 counties, has selected Pivotal Energy Solutions’ Axis software platform to manage the data for its award winning APS ENERGY STAR® Homes new construction program starting in 2012.

APS administers their New Homes program internally and Tom Hines, Program Manager at APS, believes “Axis will reduce our administrative costs by enabling data sharing and automated report generation and notifications for our Rater/Provider and Builder partners.” Axis’s cloud-hosted database architecture allows for authenticated users working together on an APS ENERGY STAR® home to populate and share checklists, share inspection schedules and results, and monitor qualification status. As the program sponsor, APS will use the data collected to review and approve incentive payments. “Axis will allow us to collect not only energy simulation files and data but the complete ENERGY STAR® version 3 Thermal Enclosure checklists from Rater/Providers for homes in our program. With Axis, we will have access to more comprehensive data to QA homes within our program,” says Tom. Axis supports incentive payment processing for program sponsors and invoice generation and tracking for Rater/Providers and HVAC contractors. Axis also supports the RESNET sampling protocol to assist Providers with tracking sampling controls and creating sampling batches. “We’ve enjoyed working with the Pivotal team and look forward to our deployment of Axis in the coming months,” Tom added.
